Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday expanded his cabinet by inducting 35 ministers -- including his son Aditya Thackeray -- comprising 25 of Cabinet and 10 of Minister of State rank. Nationalist Congress Party senior leader Ajit Pawar was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister for a record fourth time.

The Minister for Mines Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy observed that 200 Acres of land is enough for constructing a capital, explaining the buildings in the Hyderabad capital where the Assembly, Secretariat and other office buildings located. He further informed that the government will have the option to return the lands taken under the Land Pooling Scheme, reacting to a question in a press conference at Secretariat in Amaravati capital city on Monday.

State Bank of India (SBI) on Monday reduced its external benchmark-based rate by 25 basis points to 7.80% from 8.05%.
SBI "has announced the reduction in its external benchmark-based rate (EBR) by 25 basis points to 7.80% p.a. from 8.05% p.a. with effect from January 1, 2020," the bank said in a statement.

International News:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in her New Year's message she is fighting climate change with all her strength to enable future generations to live in peace and prosperity. "Global warming is real. It is threatening," Ms. Merkel said in the recorded speech which will be broadcasted on Tuesday evening. Rising world temperatures and the problems created by global warming are all man-made, Ms. Merkel added.
